1950 Plymouth Special Suburban
Original body with less than 38,000 original miles. New (rebuilt) 318 V8, EFI, Automatic, Air Conditioning, Power Steering, Mustang II Front End, Power Brakes (Disc on front), Power Windows. Has the original seats and seat covers. Has aluminum radiator with electric cooling fan, alternator, 12-volt system throughout the car, electric windshield wipers, rebuilt dashboard instrument cluster, coil over springs front suspension, rebuilt rear leaf springs, reworked differential, rebuilt drive shaft. Has new steering wheel made especially for this car; tilt steering column, back up lights, custom dual exhaust, original radio modified for AM/FM (has the look of the original), new American Classic wide whitewall radial tires plus spare, new headliner and new door panel inserts to match headliner, new matching floor mats, installed seatbelts, replaced driver-side door glass (was de-laminating), and less than 500 miles on all the new running gear.
This is a trophy-winning car that was in a California collection for many years. I purchased it and had it resto-modded by a well-known St. Louis company. The body and frame are all original and in pristine condition. The body style is a two-door station wagon and is rare and unusual. The original literature describes it as: You will be thrilled when you see the brand new Special Suburban – the all-purpose car with the Country Club Air. Seat cushions and backs are upholstered in Tan Bedford Cord. And the swank Special Suburban offers you the three-cars-in-one utility of the regular model.

I am curious is the rear end on the car differential the stock 1950 modified or, or have you put in a later model differential— what is the series of the automatic transmission? thanks beautiful car. I’d like to own it.
The differential was changed to accomodate the 318. The transmission is a 727. I can provide you a list of the work that was done if you want it. It is a beautiful car, thank you.
Is there a chance I could come up and look at the car and Ormond Beach? I live in Melbourne?——-thanks.
Sure. When do you want to come?
Steve – I don’t plan on going to the turkey rod run but will be at home on Friday. You can come by if you wish. My email address is [email protected].
