1957 Ford Thunderbird The 1957 model represented the first significant restyling since the Thunderbird was first introduced. A longer rear section provided improved storage space. Riding and handling qualities were greatly enhanced by relocating the spar tire in the trunk. As with large Fords, 1957 Thunderbirds featured fins on the rear fenders.
Inside, the 1957 model used the instrument panel from full-size 1956 Fords, with an engine-turned insert dressing-up the panel. While its debatable as to which of the first-generation T-Birds were the most attractive our feeling is the 1957.
This example is a great representation of the last year of the first-gen thats all there and shows well. Its got the 312 V-8, which was the larger V-8 in 1957 mated to the Ford three-speed automatic and drives extremely well.
This is a two-top car, the removable hardtop with the port hole window as well as the black canvas convertible top, which is also an excellent condition.
Its a power steering car with a working factory tachometer, modern stereo, heater (new heater core), windshield wipers, lights, horn, etc. turnkey car.
Pretty car inside and out, check out the 40+ pics including the undercarriage. Just a really nice 57.

Please comment on drivability from Sioux City to Roanoke VA.
Probably hard for any seller to recommend driving over 1,000 miles in a 70 year old car.
Seller notes that it is a strong running, nice driver car.
also note that shipping to you in an enclosed trailer would be approx- $1,500
Forgot to ask – any moldy smells at all. My wife Zip is very sensitive to mold?
Vince Basile
Vincent, we have not noticed any mold smell.
A/C is listed on check list but I do not see the compressor/etc under hood
Are brakes manual or power?
In your professional opinion, can this 57 be driven 1100 miles from Sioux City to Roanoke VA safely mechanically?
Thanks, Vince Basile
Vincent, this Thunderbird does not have A/C and does not have power brakes. The car is mechanically solid and to be driven 1100 miles I do feel would safe but it is a lot of wear and tear on a car of this age at today’s highway speeds.
Do you have pictures of the soft top up and in place? Please post them……..so we can see how the top fits.
photos of the black soft top have been added to the end of the photo gallery
