Simplex was founded by Paul Treen in New Orleans, Louisiana in the late 1920s. Simplex was the only motorcycle manufacturer located in the Deep South for many years, Simplex’s minimalist philosophy was maintained throughout the company’s history, whose designs changed little after 1935. The Simplex Automatic was produced from 1953-1960. This black and red Automatic is from the later years. The Automatic was made with a 2-stroke, 150cc motor. The scooter does not have a kickstand – it is being held up by a wood block. This is a running scooter and it has a North Carolina Title.

Why is Renata kickstand who manufactured the engine for simplex? I’m surprised sold by dealer versus private party.
C. Steve, we are a consignment dealership. Our inventory is sold “AS-IS’ as it comes to us. From my research, it seems Simplex manufactured the engines themselves. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
Thanks for your response, Mary needs scooter. I remember when I was a young kid..
Welcome to the auction. This Simplex Automatic is very unique – you’ll be the only one you know who has one!
