The Vega was Chevrolet's economical sub-compact entry, offering sporty styling along with the utility of the hatchback design. The original aluminum OHC 4-cylinder engine was rated at only 90HP, this remarkable example has been up-fitted with a new GM LS3 powerplant. This is now a different animal, with 430HP it is a far cry from its original factory design. In addition to the dramatic increase in horsepower comes the efficiency and reliability provided by electronic fuel injection and when coupled with a 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission, impressive fuel economy. The safety aspects have been addressed as well, stopping power has been improved with the addition of a performance 4-wheel disc brake set up along with suspension and steering upgrades which significantly improve the handling and ride.
