1957 Chevrolet 140 two- door sedan that is modified as a recreation of the famous Black Widow Chevrolets that dominated the 1957 NASCAR Grand National Championship. The car underwent a frame off nut-and-bolt restoration under a previous owner in 2023 and has 36 miles since the restoration. The car was built to the exact specifications of the Black Widow race cars. Work involved repainting the body, re-trimming the interior in correct cobblestone upholstery, adding period-correct roll bar, and installing a 283 cubic inch engine with a correct Rochester 4800 fuel injection unit. As part of the build a 3 speed column suited transmission and 10 bolt rear axle were included. Every detail was meticulously incorporated into the building including dual exhaust exiting through the frame and quarter panels. The car is equipped with correct four front and rear shock absorbers, front and rear sway bars, an upgraded radiator and 20 gallon fuel tank. Further details include magnetic headlamp covers, rocket hood ornaments, Fuel Injection badging, and stainless-steel quarter-panel spears and fin tips. The custom restoration included period-style removable decals. The car rides on correct white 15 inch 6 lug wheels with custom grease spindles that are mounted on 7.10-15 Firestone Deluxe Champion bias-ply tires. Like the original Black Widows this example is a heater and radio delete along no glove compartment or rear widow cranks to lighten the vehicle for racing. The chassis number is consistent with a 1957 Chevrolet 150 built at the Atlanta, Georgia assembly facility with a V8 engine. This historic car gets tons of attention and inquires at car shows and caffeine and car events. This is a show quality car that can be driven anywhere.
