"2005 Nissan 350Z Roadster
""This is where it all starts. You. Climb into your new Nissan Z, and you'll climb into a driver's seat tailored for performance. Behind you, a seatback sculpted with large wings, helping to assure a secure driving position during quick lateral acceleration. While around you, there's a selfish layout of instruments."" From the 2004 350Z brochure
For consignment, a 2004 Nissan 350Z roadster with a title verified 38,309 actual miles. This eye-catching roadster appears to have been produced for a single function, fun. You can't walk by this car without imagining yourself behind the wheel, carving canyons from here to Arizona.
Exterior
Not a square panel on this sports car making for a sleek wind conquering rounded wedge in Super Black. The rear of the car is distinctly round with a large rear valance that houses narrow reverse lights and the license plate box, all over a pair of large exhaust tips. Flared fenders live up front and the width is enhanced by vertical marker lights that flank a gaping, low grille below flush mounted headlights that are essentially aerodynamic elements of the long hood. The 350's door handles are unique vertical units that resemble billet aluminum and its smooth design and engraved squares show up in other places on the car. 18-inch 5 spoke Nismo wheels add some raciness to a car that already looks track ready. A black canvas top is in nice shape and is replaced by a double humped hard tonneau behind the roll bars. The paint looks very good on the car with minor imperfections that include some chips on a rear wheel flare and some on the chin.
Interior
Smooth black door panels include a front cove that simultaneously holds the door handle and a directional air vent in a clever, if not artful design. The saddle leather on black mesh bucket seats are shocking in their contrast and inviting in their design. Remember that part about imagining yourself behind the wheel? These seats are like sea bound sirens wooing onlookers to jump in, and they happen to be in great shape. A race car like cockpit continues with a thick steering wheel contoured to the hand and a triple gauge cluster in the pilot's sightline, three more on the top of the center stack canted towards the driver. The remainder of the center stack is standard 350 here with an AM/FM/CD radio with XM capabilities and large A/C knobs. In the center console, an impossibly short shifter, stout and showing some patina, behind which are some seat switches. Low pile black carpet is below along with fitted mats. A deep trunk also wears a fitted carpeted mat and is clean, awaiting your overnight bag for a trip to the beach!
Drivetrain
A strut tower brace hovers over the clean 3.5 liter DOHC V6 showing a Nismo air intake and rated at 276 horsepower. That short stick travels six times for the 6-speed manual transmisison sending power to the rear axle with 3.53 gearing. Naturally, power disc brakes fit this sports car and are found on all four wheels.
Undercarriage
Almost belying its mileage, the underside is super clean, dry, and showing only minimal surface rust. The dual exhaust joins as one fat pipe, enters the original equipment muffler which sprouts two tail pipes that end with short wide chrome tips. Suspension consists of multi link up front and multilink with coil springs in back where independent configuration is also maintained.
Drive-Ability
The venerable 3.5 V6 is used across the Nissan and Infiniti line and for good reason. It offers great power in unboosted form and propels this Z car with confidence inducing acceleration. ZR rated low profile tires and a low center of gravity keep this bad boy grounded and the seats hold tight. Ergonomically splendid and a joy to drive, all functions available operate as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
You're going to get one of two things at stop lights. Stares from men, women, and children or challenging revs from wanna be racers. That's because this is a visually stunning car that just happens to look fast. And with the Nismo wheels and black paint, even more so. So, get your knowing grin ready as you'll need it at every red light. You don't need to prove the car is quick. Be cool. Stay safe. And give a confident nod as the boy racer chirps his tires away.
